AES Consulting Engineers is pleased to announce that Christopher M. Basic was recently licensed as a Professional Landscape Architect by the State of Virginia. He has been an employee of AES Consulting Engineers since 2001, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University.

Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, Inc. (HSMM) has announced the addition of Ralph G. Cassitto to the professional staff in Virginia Beach. Mr. Cassitto has joined the firm’s Structural Department as a design technician.
HSMM, also announced the addition of Luther A. Woodruff III to the staff in the Virginia Beach office. Mr. Woodruff has joined the firm’s Electrical Department as a drafting/design technician.
Robert A. Maslyn, RA has joined the Virginia Beach office of HSMM as architectural department head. Mr. Maslyn is responsible for quality control for all projects performed by personnel, training, and mentoring, and oversight of construction administrative services for departmental designs. Mr. Maslyn, a graduate of Virginia Tech, has 20 years experience in new design and renovation projects for military, state, and commercial clients. He recently served as a primary author in the development of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Performance-Based Design-Build Guide Specifications, and technical criteria and requirement guidelines.
Paul A. Correia has joined the Virginia Beach office of HSMM as construction administration department head. With extensive experience in all phases of construction, Mr. Correia will be responsible for managing the construction administration phase of new construction and renovation projects designed by HSMM, and serving as advisor to project representatives. A graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Engineering Management, Mr. Correia has successfully completed numerous design-build projects; managed several Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) mitigation projects; and has a record of effectively managing projects on time and within budget. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and is also a Certified Building Commissioning Professional through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Draper Aden Associates has announced that Roger Cooley, P.E., has joined the staff as a Project Engineer on the Environmental Team in the firm’s Richmond office. Mr. Cooley has over 30 years of Environmental Engineering experience. He has a B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering Technology from Western Kentucky University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia. He also hold certification a Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator.

Anderson and Associates would like to congratulate Sue Brown, Greensboro Office Manager, on her 10 year anniversary with the firm, and Lisa Schultz, Blacksburg Accounting Assistant, on her promotion to Accounts Payable Specialist.
Anderson and Associates would also like to welcome several additions to their staff. Chad Benham has recently joined the firm’s Tri-Cities office as a GIS/Survey Assistant; James Marley has joined the Greensboro office as a Survey Technician; and Robin McMillon has joined the Greensboro office as a Consultant.

Engineering Design Associates has recently announced that Dan Wilson has earned his Authorized On-Site Soil Evaluator license from the Virginia Department of Health and Lucinda Tiller Cordo has received her LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) certification.
Additionally, the firm also announced that Cortney R. Fisher has joined the staff as an environmental scientist/planner and Randy Hooker has joined as an architectural CADD technician.

William Scott, estimating manager for Cianbro Corporation’s Mid-Atlantic Region, has been appointed to serve the Construction Institute (CI) in Reston, VA, as a member of the Claims Avoidance and Resolutions Committee. CI was created through the merger of Construction Division, Materials Division, and Construction Standards Council of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in October 2000. With 18 years experience in the construction industry, Mr. Scott is a 14-year Cianbro veteran. He received a B.S. degree in Engineering from the University of Maine, and is completing MBA requirements at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.

Hankins and Anderson, Inc., has announced several recent promotions at the firm. Howell Taylor has been promoted to Senior Associate, while Carl Cunningham, Will Wheeler and Jeff Brandon have been promoted to Associates.

Wiley and Wilson is pleased to announce that Warren M. Childress, P.E., LEED™ AP, Manager of the Electrical Engineering Department, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). In order to pass the LEED exam, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in green or sustainable building design which embodies balancing environmental responsiveness, resource efficiency, and cultural and community sensitivity.

Louis B. Rodenberg, III has joined the professional staff at Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc.’s (GES) Richmond office as a Junior Geologist. Mr. Rodenberg will work in the firm’s environmental abatement monitoring services. He received his B.S. degree in 2004 from the Geology School of Denison University, Granville, OH.

MMM Design Group would like to congratulate Brian Turner, EIT, LEED™ AP and Greg Simon, who have been chosen as finalists in the U.S. Green Building Council 2004 Design Competition, for their design of a symbiotic relationship among a building, garage, and park. Mr. Turner and Mr. Simon submitted their “Let’s Plant a Seed” project, where each urban structure would live off of the other and become more adaptable over time.

Bruce A. Seamans, P.E. with over 31 years engineering experience, has become licensed to perform professional engineering services in the State of North Carolina. Mr. Seamans is Vice-President – Engineering and Operations for MSA, P.C. and serves on the firm’s Board of Directors. His NC license expands MSA’s capabilities to create construction plans for approval by NC authorities. MSA, P.C., is a regional consulting firm with offices in Virginia Beach and Eastville, VA.

Virginia Geotechnical Services, P.C. recently announced that
Ralph Luisi has joined the firm as Engineering Technician and will be responsible for construction materials testing services.
