AES Consulting Engineers, a dynamic civil engineering, landscape architecture and land planning firm located in Williamsburg, VA, announced that Jason A. Grimes was recently licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the State of Virginia. Mr. Grimes holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. Currently, he is a Project Engineer with AES Consulting Engineers, and has been an employee of the firm since 2000.

Dewberry, a national consulting firm based in Fairfax, VA, has announced several promotions of senior staff:
Samuel J. Bertolino, P.E., an associate in the firm’s Infrastructure Planning and Design division in the Fairfax, VA, office, has been named a senior associate. Mr. Bertolino has more than 15 years of transportation engineering experience.
Patrick K. Peiffer, an associate in the Manassas office, has been named a senior associate. Mr. Peiffer is a surveying manager with more than 20 years experience.
Brian K. Bradner, P.E., a project manager and civil engineer in the firm’s Danville office, has been named an associate.
Dustin J. Kuhlman, P.E., a director of technical services and civil engineer in the firm’s Manassas office, has been named an associate.
Firas N. Makarem, P.E., a project manager and civil engineer in the federal programs division in the firm’s Fairfax office, has been named an associate.
Scott Martin, a senior emergency management specialist in the federal programs division in the firm’s Fairfax office, has been named an associate.
Carl M. Rigler, a project engineer in the Manassas office, has been named an associate.
Kelly D. Cole, of Dewberry’s Danville office, recently received certification as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ms. Cole received her B.S. degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering in 1998 from Virginia Tech. She is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Environmental and Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech. During her association with the firm, Ms. Cole has provided engineering services for several noteworthy projects including a number of area industrial parks and approximately 75 communications tower sites throughout eastern Virginia.

MSA, P.C. is pleased to announce that Reynaldo M. Hernandez, Jr. successfully completed the requirements for certification as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Hernandez holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University. He has been employed with MSA over 6 years and is currently a Project Engineer in the firm’s Engineering Division. In his capacity as Project Engineer, Mr. Hernandez is responsible for civil engineering for private industry and public sector projects.

Jeffrey S. Davis, P.E., has been named a principal in the structural engineering firm of Dunbar, Milby, Williams, Pittman & Vaughan, P.C. Mr. Davis has been an employee of the firm since his graduation from Duke University in 1992. Over the course of his association with the firm, he has been the Structural Project Manager and/or Structural Design Engineer for numerous projects throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of North Carolina.

Clark•Nexsen, is pleased to announce that Nadine Gervacio, EIT has accepted a position with the firm as a Civil Engineer, Scott Christopher, P.E. has accepted a position within the firm’s Electrical Department as Senior Electrical Engineer, and Brent Phillips, P.E. has accepted a position with the firm as an Electrical Engineer.
Ms. Gervacio has experience in public, private, and government site plan development, including water, sanitary, and storm water design. Other responsibilities associated with her new position include the analysis of drainage structures and storm water management facilities. She is a 2001 graduate of Virginia Tech, where she received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
Mr. Christopher is a Senior Design engineer with over 10 years experience in the electrical field. During his career, he has worked on various military, municipal and commercial projects throughout the United States and overseas. In his new position, responsibilities include layout, design and circuiting of electrical power, lighting and communication systems for churches, schools, cell towers and other facilities. Mr. Christopher has an extensive portfolio of projects that range from new construction, to renovation, to building condition surveys. Mr. Christopher is a 1993 graduate of Virginia Tech, where he received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He is currently a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Mr. Phillips has over 7 years experience in various sectors of electrical engineering, ranging from the design of power (interior and exterior) to communications (telephone, data, and intercom). Over the course of his career, he has worked on various local, state, federal government, commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Mr. Phillips is a 1997 graduate of Old Dominion University where he received a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology. He has just recently become a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia.
Clark•Nexsen has also announced the appointment of Kenneth G. Stepka, P.E., Executive Vice President /CEO, to the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Mr. Stepka has extensive experience in design, project management, and project oversight responsibilities, as well as subcontract administration and client interface. He is a 1974 graduate of Old Dominion University where he earned a B.S. degree in Engineering. Mr. Stepka is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia as well as 8 additional states. He is a member and past president of the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers (VSPE) and is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). He is also, currently, the Regional Vice President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia (ACEC/V).
Clark•Nexsen, is pleased to announce that David Mallory has joined the firm’s Architecture Department as an Architectural Intern. Mr. Mallory has over 13 years experience in the Architectural field. Career highlights include serving as project manager and architect on various projects ranging from public schools to state universities. He is a 1991 graduate of Hampton University where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He is an Associate AIA and is currently working toward his Architecture Registration.
Clark•Nexsen, is also pleased to announce that A. Ray Pentecost III, AIA, ACHA, Vice President and Director of Healthcare Architecture has been appointed by the speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates to the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Authority Board of Directors. Dr. Pentecost is an experienced healthcare professional who is board certified in healthcare architecture by the American College of Healthcare Architects. He currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Old Dominion University College of Health Sciences. Dr. Pentecost received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University, and a Master and Doctor of Public Health from the University Of Texas School Of Public Health.
Noll W. Kretschmann, P.E., L.C., has recently obtained his Lighting Certification from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP). Mr. Noll joined Clark•Nexsen’s Charlotte, NC, office in 2001 as an Electrical Engineer. Credentials for Mr. Noll include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, in 1998, and an Associate in Applied Science – Electrical Technology, from Corning Community College, Corning, NY, in 1995.

Resource International Ltd., headquartered in Ashland, VA, would like to announce the addition of Leroy A. Hawkes to their corporate office. Mr. Hawkes has joined the Municipal Engineering Department as a project representative. He has 10 years experience and will be doing on-site observation for construction projects such as landfill liner installation, landfill closures, and will also include environmental sampling duties.

Wolfgang P. Webner, P.E. has joined Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, L.L.P. as an Electrical Engineer. Previously employed at Tri-City Electric and Allied Signal/Honeywell, Mr. Webner has received his Professional Engineer license since joining the firm.
David Warriner, P.E. an Associate and Senior Civil Engineer with Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, L.L.P., has recently received his LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation.

Mark Boatright, P.E. has joined MMM Design Group as a mechanical engineer and project engineer. Mr. Boatright, a science, engineering, technology graduate of Old Dominion University, is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers and has over 17 years experience that includes mechanical systems design, field investigations, cost estimation, and the preparation of construction documents. Most recently, he served as a senior mechanical engineer for TranSystems Corporation in Norfolk.

Hankins and Anderson, Inc., a Richmond based consulting engineering firm, has announced that David Dopler has recently joined the firm’s Electrical Department. Mr. Dopler was formerly with E.K. Fox & Associates, Ltd.
Hankins and Anderson has also announced that Jeff H. Brandon is now a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and that Robert McAtee has earned his Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers.

Draper Aden Associates is pleased to announce that C. Blaine Keesee, C.L.A. has joined their staff as a Certified Landscape Architect on the Site Planning and Engineering Team in the firm’s Blacksburg office. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Mr. Keesee brings more than 26 years experience in land use planning and design, outdoor recreation, business parks, downtown revitalization, and landscape architecture to the firm.

Bill Hestand has joined Koontz-Bryant as the firm’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO). With 32 years experience, he was previously Vice-President of Stevenson & Stewart in Chantilly, VA. Mr. Hestand holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Pittsburg State University.

The following promotions were recently announced at Timmons:
Stephen Raugh, Scott Collins and Lowell Ballard are now in new positions as group leaders. Mr. Raugh will focus on education in the site development sector. Mr. Collins is in the firm’s Charlottesville office and Mr. Ballard is with the technology sector.
Kevin Pennock and Frank Slinsky III are now in new positions as project managers. Both are with the site development sector.

Balzer and Associates, Inc. has recently announced that John Patrick Carty is now a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
