AREVA and Appalachian Power to Aid Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity
August 27, 2013

With matching seed donations of $10,000, AREVA and Appalachian Power challenges Lynchburg engineering and technical companies to join them as co-sponsors of an “Engineers’ Build” for the Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity.

The GLHFH is reaching out to area businesses to raise the funds needed to build their 282nd house for a family of four on Rockbridge Avenue. The project needs $60,000 to begin construction. Currently about $25,000 has been pledged.

This isn’t the first time AREVA and Appalachian Power have partnered together on a community project. Last July AREVA and Appalachian Power partnered with the American Red Cross to help provide relief to area residents during the power outages in the form of free bags of ice.

AREVA’s Reactors and Services business group is headquartered in Lynchburg, Va., where nearly 2,000 employees support the energy sector through innovative solutions and engineering services based on a foundation of operational excellence.

Appalachian Power has about 1 million customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee. It is a unit of American Electric Power, one of the largest electric utilities in the United States.
