Bowman Consulting Announces Seminar

February 06, 2006

Bowman Consulting is pleased to announce a sustainable development seminar in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association. Greg Long, a registered landscape architect representing Bowman Consulting, will discuss how Low Impact Development (LID) technology and practices can be incorporated into site planning. The seminar will also present techniques for incorporating LID into local and regional storm water management policies.

“We need to focus our efforts on a system wide watershed policy that incorporates a variety of best management practices,” said Greg Long, RLA. “LID technology at the site level is just one component of a larger integrated storm water management system,” added Long.

In addition, the panel of environmental experts will discuss installation costs, lessons learned and the barriers to implementing LID practices. Additional panelists will include representatives from the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and Arlington County’s Watershed Planning Division. The seminar will take place on Thursday, February 9th at noon at the Arlington Central Library, 1015 North Quincy Street, Arlington, VA.
