Dewberry Named Partner Of The Year By ESRI

April 04, 2005

Dewberry, a nationally recognized consulting firm based in Fairfax, VA, has been named Partner of the Year for the Washington, DC region by ESRI, a leading GIS and mapping software developer. Dewberry was recognized for demonstrating “exemplary leadership using GIS in its emergency response to the devastation inflicted by last year’s Florida hurricanes.”

The 2004 hurricanes resulted in the largest deployment of relief services in the history of the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Through its nationwide response and recovery contracts with FEMA, held in joint venture with URS, Dewberry has provided ongoing post-disaster housing inspection services and comprehensive public infrastructure support in Florida since August. The firm also provides post-disaster studies and evaluations.

ESRI recognized Dewberry’s use of GIS technology to support the efforts of FEMA as well as state and local governments, noting that, “Dewberry’s leadership in this role will further promote the use of GIS in the constructive response to these and future disasters.”

Dewberry Vice President Phil Thiel and GIS Senior Project Manager Jeff Poplin accepted the award at the ESRI Business Partner Conference in February.
