Golder Associates Inc. debuts its first office in North Carolina, in Greensboro, to expand ground engineering and environmental services to clients in North and South Carolina. Golder will bring its strong solid waste expertise to the Carolinas market including municipal solid waste (MSW) and construction and demolition (C&D) debris landfill siting, design, permitting, construction quality assurance, groundwater and surface water monitoring, landfill gas management, remediation, closure, and end-use planning. Other service areas include environmental site assessments and remediation, compliance audits, and groundwater supply development.
Key hires for Greensboro are Charles Hiner, P.E., and Rachel Kirkman, P.G. Hiner is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina and Virginia, with more than 15 years of engineering and environmental consulting experience. He is also a member of the North Carolina and Virginia Bar Associations. Hiner joins Golder as Senior Engineer/Assistant Staff Attorney, bringing his expertise in the areas of solid waste management, landfill design and permitting, geotechnical engineering, environmental remediation, and contract and risk management.
Kirkman is a registered professional geologist in North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, and has more than six years of environmental consulting experience after having worked in the Public Water Supply Section of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. As Senior Project Geologist, Kirkman offers expertise in environmental monitoring program management at solid waste facilities, including groundwater corrective action. She also has extensive experience in hydrogeologic site characterization, and successfully permitting new and expanded MSW and C&D facilities.
