Phoenix Packaging To Expand Dublin Facility

Phoenix Packaging Operations LLC, a subsidiary of Bogota, Columbia-based Grupo Phoenix, has announced plans to double the size of its operations in Dublin, Va.
Grupo Phoenix is a leading manufacturer of injection molded packaging, thermoformed products, foil lidding and extruded barrier packaging for the dairy, dessert, sauces and coffee markets.

Phoenix Packaging will invest $17.5 million in the planned facility expansion which will add 120,000 square feet to the current plant which opened in March 2011. According to Jaime Lederman, CEO of Phoenix Packaging, the company plans to use all of the current facility for manufacturing and will use the new space for warehousing. Currently, all of the production in the Dublin plant is used to make dairy cups and containers for the U.S., Canadian and Mexican markets.

Governor McDonnell approved a $350,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund for the project. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance also will provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.
