UVA-ASCE 2006 Virginias Conference

April 03, 2006

On April 6-8, 2006, the University of Virginia’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is hosting the 2006 Virginias Conference. This event will gather civil engineering students from schools throughout Virginia and West Virginia. The purpose of the conference is to broaden the perspective of civil engineering students through professional development activities and project competitions. Some of the competitions in the conference are a Steel Bridge competition, a Technical Paper, Jeopardy, and a Concrete Canoe competition. Another piece of the conference is getting to know your fellow civil engineers. There will be social activities and a banquet. It is also a great opportunity to network and find out what other civil engineers are doing in your area.

Support from local and regional businesses is being sought. Both monetary and volunteer help is needed. Professionals are needed to judge the competitions, and company sponsorship is greatly appreciated. This will be a great opportunity for companies to recruit and appeal to undergraduate students in the Virginia area. In thanks for your contributions, your company’s name will appear in the conference program and on the conference T-shirts given to all participants.

Please visit www.student.virginia.edu/~asce and email Emily Benko at for more information about sponsorship and judging opportunities.
