WEF Water Quality Conference Announced

October 24, 2005

Trade delegations from eleven countries will gather in Washington, DC later this month to conduct business with and gather information from over 850 water and wastewater companies at WEFTEC®.05, the largest water quality conference of its kind in North America. Participating countries include Iraq, India, The Netherlands, China, Thailand, Mexico, Philippines, Bulgaria, Romania, Chile, and Indonesia.

In addition to conducting business, over 39 representatives from the Iraqi delegation are expected to attend a technical session titled, “Rebuilding the Water/Wastewater Infrastructure in Iraq”. A panel of experts will discuss the latest on the management and reconstruction of water and wastewater infrastructure and systems in the war-torn country.

WEFTEC.05, the Water Environment Federation’s 78th annual technical exhibition and conference, is an increasingly popular site for business transactions between water and wastewater companies and international visitors. The Water Environment Federation, a local not-for-profit technical and educational organization for water quality professionals, partners with the U.S. Department of Commerce International Buyer Program (I.B.P.), US-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP), EcoLinks, embassies, consulates, and independent trade delegation organizers to promote international and domestic business opportunities within the water quality community.

Held October 29 through November 2, WEFTEC.05 is expected to draw nearly 20,000 water quality professionals from around the world to learn the latest practices, solutions, regulations, and emerging technologies in their field. The conference will feature 111 technical sessions, 25 workshops, 11 interactive facility tours and over 850 exhibiting companies. Please visit the conference Web site at www.weftec.org for more information.
