Peter Mackey has recently become the third LEED® Accredited Professional Engineer at 2rw Consultants, Inc. Mr. Mackey joins 2rw’s partners, Bob Somers and Bob Crowell in obtaining this professional designation.

O’Brien & Gere is pleased to announce the hiring of Farah Foster-Chase as a Regional Marketing Representative in the firm’s Virginia Beach office. Ms. Foster-Chase’s primary role will be business development in the areas of water, wastewater, and nutrient removal.

ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Christopher W. Cornelissen, P.E., as the Geotechnical Department Manager in the Richmond office. Mr. Cornelissen earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and has provided geotechnical consulting services with a focus on foundation design in the Richmond area since 1997.

Christopher G. McKnight, P.E., has joined MMM Design Group as a senior civil engineer in the firm’s Charlottesville office. Mr. McKnight has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University, and brings nearly 10 years of experience in planning, design and construction administration to MMM.

Wiley & Wilson, Inc. is pleased to make the following staff announcements:
Jason T. Burger, AIA (A) has been promoted to Design Architect in the Architectural Department. His duties include developing schematic designs into construction documents for local, state, and federal clients. Mr. Burger received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.
Grant W. Thrower has been promoted to Assistant Architect in the Architectural Department. His focus will be on developing architectural designs and construction documents for a variety of building types and clients. Mr. Thrower received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.
Tracey L. Garrett, E.I.T. joined the firm’s Electrical Engineering Team as a Design Engineer. Her duties include communication and data systems master plans for colleges and universities and other clients. She will also concentrate on the design of security, communication, and data systems for a wide range of clients. She holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. degree in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Brian A. Brookman joined the firm’s Mechanical Engineering Team as a Designer. His duties include HVAC design as well as 3D CADD production. He holds an A.A.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Central Virginia Community College, and is studying Mechanical Engineering Technology through Old Dominion University.
J. Robert Simms, RA joined the firm’s Architectural Team as a Senior Architect. His duties include design of state, institutional, and federal facilities. Mr. Simms holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami.
Richard E. Carter joined the firm’s Architectural Team as a Designer. His duties include CADD, drawing and sheet layout, detailing, drawing coordination, and assigning project drawing standards. He is a graduate of J.M. Wright Technical School, Stamford, Connecticut and hold numerous certifications in AutoCAD and CADD.
Michel C. Makhlouf joined the firm’s Architectural Department as a Designer/Drafter. His duties include CADD, detailing and drawing coordination. Mr. Makhlouf is currently studying Architectural Design at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College.
Val V. Vaniakin joined the firm’s Architectural Department as a Designer. His duties include design, drawing and sheet layout, CADD, drawing coordination, building and interior design, 3D renderings, and perspectives. He holds a B.A. degree in Interior Design from Tashkent Art Institute in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Patrick J. Williams joined the firm’s Structural Engineering Team as a Designer/Drafter. His duties include CAD drafting for structural drawings on industrial, military, federal and institutional projects. He is currently studying Civil Engineering Technology through Old Dominion University
Brent L. Stevens, AIA has joined Wiley & Wilson’s Architectural Department as a Project Architect. His duties include design of local, state, and federal government facilities as well as private sector/industrial facilities. Mr. Stevens holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.
Thomas B. Gray, P.E. has joined Wiley & Wilson’s local government project team. His duties include assisting local government clients with regulatory compliance and arranging financing for their projects. Mr. Gray holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a MES degree from Virginia Tech. His thirty years of experience leading the Virginia Department of Health financial assistance programs for water projects will aid local government clients in obtaining funding and regulatory compliance for their projects.
Donald W. Wampler has also joined Wiley & Wilson’s local government project team. His duties include assisting local government clients with regulatory compliance and arranging financing for their projects. Mr. Wampler holds an A.S. degree in Structural Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. His thirty years of experience leading the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality financial assistance programs for water quality projects will aid local government clients in obtaining funding and regulatory compliance for their projects.
Ryan T. Roberts has joined Wiley & Wilson’s Civil Engineering Team as a Designer. His duties include designing water and sewer mains and storm water facilities. Mr. Roberts holds an A.A.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Central Virginia Community College and is pursuing a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering Technology through Old Dominion University.

Laura Byerley, has joined the Administrative Support Team in the Richmond office. Ms. Byerley has experience in business management, payroll, and customer service. She attended West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Edward Hofmann, Jr. has joined the firm as a Project Designer for the Surveying team in the Richmond office. Mr. Hofmann, an experienced designer, CAD operator and operations manager, will be responsible for subdivision design, construction management and stormwater design. He has a Certificate of Survey Science from Old Dominion University and an Associate Science degree from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College.
Valerie Grooms, Senior Accounting Specialist for Draper Aden Associates, has become a Certified Design Accountant. At the firm for 6 years, she is responsible for coordinating accounting functions in the Richmond office. Ms. Grooms has a B.A. degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
George M. (Trey) Harvey III, E.I.T., has joined the firm’s Richmond office as a Project Engineer for the Site Planning and Engineering Team. A Virginia Tech graduate with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, he will be a member of project design teams involved in institutional and commercial development work with responsibilities in parking and traffic circulation studies, storm water management including Low Impact Design, grading and drainage, and site geometrics to accommodate roads and buildings.
Draper Aden also announces two major management changes in the Richmond Office. Jeffrey N. Lighthiser, P.E., Executive Vice President and Richmond Office Manager since 1985, has taken over the new corporate role of Director of Strategic Growth and Marketing. A Virginia Tech graduate with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mr. Lighthiser has been with the firm for 31 years and has been involved in all aspects of the firm’s leadership. In this new position, he will be responsible for expanding the firm’s capabilities and continued growth throughout the Southeast.
David W. Spriggs, P.E. has been selected to assume the position of Richmond Office Manager. Serving as Team Leader of the Richmond Structural Team for the past 2 years, Mr. Spriggs has over 32 years of engineering experience, management of construction projects, and management of a design/engineering firm in Richmond. He has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and M.E. in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia. As Office Manager, he is responsible for various administrative and supervisory duties, business development, and management and technical oversight of project work.

Hankins and Anderson, Inc., is pleased to announce that Mark Durham, P.E. is now a certified Project Management Professional, a certification administered by the Project Management Institute. In order to maintain his PMP designation, Mr. Durham must demonstrate ongoing professional commitment to the field of project management by satisfying Professional Development Program requirements.

Bury+Partners is pleased to welcome Jan Briedé, Ph.D. as Environmental Department Manager in the firm’s Williamsburg office. Dr. Briedé brings more than 25 years of extensive experience in environmental services, including ecological surveys, endangered species surveys and wetland delineations; wetland mitigation; ecological risk assessment; and the development of NEPA documents. He has developed more then 80 EIRs for VDOT and other state agencies. A recognized expert in wetland mitigation, he is the designer of the first tidal mitigation bank in the Hampton Roads area.
The firm is also pleased to welcome James Clark to the Bury team as an Engineer Associate. Mr. Clark has over 17 years of experience in the civil engineering field. He was previously with the City of Newport News Engineering Department serving as a Project Engineer for the Stormwater Management Division. He is recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Department of Conservation and Recreation as a Certified Plans Examiner. He received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Union College, Schenectady, New York.
The firm also welcomes John Krobath, L.S. to the team as a Survey Manager. Mr. Krobath has over 35 years experience in land surveying and engineering layout. He brings diverse experience in the consulting and construction industries providing boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, subdivision plats, condominium plats and plans and construction stake out services to the firm.
The firm also welcomes William D. “Mark” Hume, P.E. to the team as Director of Engineering/Senior Project Manager. He received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and his B.A. degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences from Virginia Tech and has over 14 years of experience in civil engineering, project management and site design.

Summit Consulting Engineers, PLLC has announced that T.A. “Tom” Daniel, P.E. has joined the firm as Regional Manager and will serve as director of Virginia operations. A Civil Engineering graduate of Virginia Tech, his professional experience spans more that 40 years in Consulting Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Construction Contracting, Management, and Claims.

Joining Youngblood, Tyler & Associates are Jonathan Cosby as a project engineer and Shawn MacIntosh as an engineer.

Cynthia Burbank has been named a national planning and environment practice leader at Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB). Ms. Burbank will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice to PB clients on planning and environmental issues. She come to the firm after a 32-year career at the U.S. Department of Transportation and is a graduate of Georgetown University. She will work in PB’s Washington, D.C. office. ##
